Captain Conan will go novice chasing this season, Darlan will probably stay over hurdles this season although he looks every inch a chaser and Grandouet we hope will take up where he left off and still be a very live Champion Hurdle contender.

    Hi Nicky

First of all big congratulations on last year, what a season. May it continue for you! Second of all I would like to say how sad I am that Spirt Son looks like his racing career may be over from what I have heard, he was a truly talented horse that would have added a definate bit of class to the Hurdle divison and how he was beckoned for Champion Hurdle Glory, also how is Binocular doing? he is one of my favs and cant wait to see him whats the plans for him Christmas hurdle etc… Also am so excited to see Sprinter Sacre dominate the 2m divison and one last thing are you looking forward the GC this season as the Irish have some wonderful chasers this year, I hope Long Run shows them all hows it done tho!

May you and all at Seven Barrows have a truly sucessful season and all stay well!

  3. George Murray says:

    Hi Nicky,

While I understand any Cheltenham Festival or Aintree Festival winner must bring you and your staff enormous pleasure, is there any one horse on one particular day that stands out as having given you the most satisfaction personally and if so why?

    Best Regards

    George

  4. James Boswell says:

The news on Braodbackbob has brightened up a miserable summer. When he beat Cinders and Ashes at Ascot it was impressive how he quickened from the last, although Cinders dropped back then R.O.W I still think you won on merit.I then watched him win at Newbury g/s .Then finishing 2nd at Cheltenham .You then entered him in the neptune 2m 5f at the festival and the supreme .If he stays hurdling how does a hock injury effect his progress is it safer than chasing? Is 2m 5f on good going his best trip?Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

  5. reply to Mike Coombes says:

Grandouet had an internal infection of the joint which has taken a lot of work to get him back on track but we are hopeful we shall get there. He should be a sronger horse this year and he is very, very talented and we hope he will still a very live Champion Hurdle contender for 2013. He is back in training and fingers crossed!

  6. reply to Neil Yates says:

Oscar Whisky is back and looking great. We are still mulling over plans for him, possibly the Ryanair Hurdle would be ideal as we suspect he will stay over hurdles, but not sure yet where we start…

  7. reply to John Davies says:

Long Run has come back in tremendous shape and looks fantastic. Nor firm decision has been made yet as to where he will start but obviously March next year is THE date so fingers crossed!

  8. reply to Andrew Westwood says:

I am afraid a decision has not yet been made about Simonsig and we are thinking about fences for this season….I am afraid you had better keep watching the racing post for news on a decision which will not be made for a bit, so sorry not to be of more help!

  9. reply to James Boswell says:

Broadback Bob had a hock injury after his run at Cheltenham last January but has a good period of rest and has come back bigger and stronger and is back in full training. We shall probably continue over hurdles this season, although he will undoubtedly jump a fence.

    Many thanks for your interest!

  10. mark evans says:

Hi nicky, I would like to know how captain conan is doing? I cant wait to see him over fences this season! Is simonsig going chasing this season or is he staying over hurdles? Also what are the plans for darlan this season i hope he is goin down the champion hurdle path? And finally how is grandouet doing? I was gutted he missed the champion hurdle last season looking at the way the race ended up i think he would of won it if he was there. Many thanks and good look for this season you look to have a awesome and very exciting team to go to war with again. Mark

Hi nicky, I would like to know how captain connan is doing? I cant wait to see him ping fences this season. Also is simonsig going over fences this season? And i know its early days yet but who do you see or hope beening the stables main arkle hope? Many thanks mark.

  12. David Kerr says:

    Hi Nicky,

I Believe at the end of last season, it was your intention to campaign Simonsig over larger obstacles/Going Novice chasing during the 2012/2013 Season, is this still your intention.

    Kind Regards

    David Kerr

  13. James Boswell says:

Hello Mr Henderson ,Do you have some recent news for Broadbackbobs progress please?

  14. Andrew Westwood says:

    Hi Nicky
I heard a rumour that Simonsig would most likely be staying hurdling this year, just wondered if you could confirm that as I like to have a dabble on the ante post markets from time to time, especially the festival, also do you have a site with updates , news etc on your string ?
Many thanks and best wishes for the coming season
    Andrew Westwood

  15. John Davis says:

    Hello Nicky,

Well done on a very successful season and the best of luck for the coming season.

I think Long Run may be the forgotten horse from last year because he only won 1 from 4 starts. But I think he ran some really good races in defeat and should come on again this year. How has Long Run done over the summer? I take it he will have a prep race then head for the King George at Christmas and will be difficult to beat, is that the plan for him this year?

    Thanks and regards,
    John.

  16. Neil Yates says:

My favourite horse is Oscar Whisky. Is he back in training and what plans do you have for him this season? When are we likely to see him out?

  17. Mike Coombes says:

    Hi Nicky,

I was wondering how Grandouet was doing after the disapointment of last year being pulled out the world hurdle.

    Best Wishes

    Mike Coombes

  19. reply to Alison Tovey says:

Thank you very much for your note about Veiled, it is much appreciated by us all as she so did not deserve that…

  20. reply to George Murray says:

Many thanks for your kind comments. Spirit Son is not back in training yet and I am afraid it might be a long haul. We have much to look forward to with Sprinter Sacre and Grandouet!

  21. reply to Neil Short says:

Thank you for your message. Oscar Nominee has come in much bigger and stronger after his summer break and we think and hope he might be a very high class horse as he grows up.

  22. ben payne says:

  24. George Murray says:

    Hi Nicky,
I, like many am a massive fan of Sprinter Sacre and have been since he jumped the 3rd fence at Donnie which prompted me to hail him not as the best since Arkle, but the new Arkle. I really think he could be that good and wish you and connections all the best for the future and hope you prove me right.

I am also a huge fan of Grandouet who looks like he came out of the same mould the way he travels in his races. When you have time could you let us know how he and Spirit Son are coming on after being injured.

all the best for the future

    George

  25. Allison Tovey says:

So sorry to see that Veiled was killed yesterday, lovely mare that I was so excited to have met at this years Open Day. RIP gorgeous girl, condolences to all connections.

  26. Nick Scothron says:

    Hi Nicky,

You’re my favourite trainer and can’t wait to see you win the trainers championship in 2012/13. I also can’t wait to see Spirit Son and hope he’ll win the Champion Hurdle next year, judged on this years result he should win 20 lengths!

Good luck to you and the team at Seven Barrows

    Kind regards

    Nick

  27. Steve Short says:

One of your horses at Cheltenham 2012 that did not quite win was called Oscar Nominee but I thought he ran a blinder and finished off his race really well. I just wondered what will his aims be this coming season and is he likely to stepped up to three miles in time?

  28. Nathan Haslam says:

    Hi Nicky

  29. Allison Tovey says:

  35. Saul Woods says:

Hi Nicky, I would just like to congratulate you on the season 2011/12. I know it’s a bit late but your achievements are just to good for me to say well done. I have an equcizer in my house and i’m 13 years old and i pretend to have the career of a jump jockey, booking my rides the day before and using the replays of racing websites after the race is run and of course you supply the ‘virtual’ winners for me, hahahahahaha, just proving your firepower. Nicky i would also like to say how much i think Andy Tinkler’s riding has improved, and where is barry ‘the great’ at the moment? thanks very much.

  36. Allison Tovey says:

Hello, just wanted to know if Miss Ballantyne is ok after her fall at Wetherby last
Thursday- I didn’t see her get up and haven’t been able to find a race report.

  37. Matthew Fraser says:

Hi Nicky, just a quick question i hope u can answer. How is General Miller & what is his next race likely to be? The horse holds a sentimental value to me after seeing him on debut @ perth & have followed him since! Many thanks

    reply to Jordan Martin

I am afraid this is a quiet time for us and we have very few runners, especially with the wet weather!

  40. N J HENDERSON says:

    reply to Ayman Serhani

Thank you for your email but I am afraid you are too young as yet. Perhaps you might like to go to the British Racing School when you are 16 and do a course there, then perhaps we might have some vacancies here – they help you find a job. Best wishes and good luck

  41. N J HENDERSON says:

    REPLY TO BRADLEY PARKER

Thank you so much, it was a great season! Binocular has gone home to Ireland and Finians Rainbow is waiting to be turned out properly when the rain stops.

  42. Bradley Parker says:

    Hi Nicky,

Just want to say your my favourite trainer and what a season you had this year! Your interviews are always a pleasure to watch and after all the success you have had, you still come across very modest. I hope Binocular and Finians Rainbow are doing well (they are my two favourites). Best of luck next season and i look forward to following your horses and hopefully you will be bringing the trainers championship trophy back to 7 Barrows next season!!

    Best wishes

    Bradley

  43. Ayman Serhani says:

    Hi Nicky,
I am 12 years old enquiring about horse racing with you,I have done pony racing quite a lot on loan ponies that belong to my riding school i was wondering if i could maybe help out in summer or just know if there is a certain age to be in business with you.

    Many Thanks

  44. Jordan martin says:

Hi there any chance of a tip
    Thanks

  45. Jim Cumbo says:

Hi Nicky, I just wanted to say congrats to you and all your winners. I live in the United States and used to be a standardbred horse trainer So I understand how tough the job can be. You truly are the best.

    Thanks

    reply to Jackie Renwick

Many thanks for your kind comments – Oscar Whisky is still here but will go home to his owner in Wales shortly! So glad you enjoyed Good Friday.

  47. Jackie Renwick says:

    Hi Nicky,
Many congratulations on your successes this season.
I came to the Lambourn Open Day for the first time this year and really enjoyed the experience. Everyone was so friendly and the laid back attitude made a refreshing change. My Aunt, who has been coming to the open day for many years asked me what I wanted to see…..I had really only one request and that was to meet Oscar Whisky. Since winning the Aintree Hurdle last year I have followed his career and have grown rather fond of him! After seeing him win that race again this year the National was an anti climax for me. I got chatting to the lad who rides him out most days and I had a word in Oscar’s ear about winning at Aintree – he must’ve listened!
Where does Oscar spend his summer holidays? Does he relax in the sun (hoping we get some) with his chum Finian’s Rainbow?
Anyway, many wishes for continued successes and I’m already looking forward to next Good Friday :0)

  48. N J HENDERSON says:

It has been brought to our attention that instead of coming directly to our own email address, you have chosen to use this site. We are now aware of comments being made and in the future will monitor this site and respond to people’s requests.

  49. N J HENDERSON says:

Many thanks for your kind comments.

Keys will be going back to Roger Charlton but unfortunately has a leg injury at present.

  50. Hi Nicky!
This is the first time l have browsed your site. I dont know if anyone has the time to read the comments or even reply. I have noted some very negative comments so l am a little sceptical.I have been a racing fan for over 50 years and follow racing with a passion. My favourite Jumps trainer is David Pipe, and whenever l message him he very kindly replies. Which I much appreciate. On the flat its Roger Charlton who likewise is very responsive to any comments or questions I put to him.
I have nothing but admiration for the way you conduct yourself in interview and your talent training racehorses is obviously second to none.
To get to my point I want to wish you tou all the very best with your quest to regain the trainers crown. Such a modert and most likeable person richly deserves it in my opinion. Very good luck for the future, some of your younger horses have been a joy to watch.
Oh by the way have you let Roger have Keys back yet?

    Very best wishes
    Graham Edwards.
