Marcus Tregoning trained his first classic winner in 2006 when SIR PERCY won The Epsom Derby in a thrilling four way finish. Sir Percy was unbeaten as a two year old and was second in the 2000 Guineas before his Derby success.
Marcus was assistant to Major Dick Hern for 14 seasons until his retirement in 1997. Based at Kingwood House, where the Major trained HARAYIR to win the 1,000 Guineas, Marcus is a public trainer with a dual-purpose licence.
Kingwood House has excellent facilities with its own private gallops within the 230 acre estate, including two polytrack All-Weathers, as well as a solarium, treadmill, indoor ride and equine spa.
Notable horses trained include multiple Group One winner NAYEF, EKRAAR, MUBTAKER (2nd in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe), HIGH ACCOLADE (2nd in the 2003 St Leger), DOMINICA and ALBARAHIM.
