David Lanigan

David moved to Bjorn Nielsen’s historic Kingsdown Stables in Upper Lambourn in December 2011, having spent four successful years in Newmarket.

A former assistant to the legendary Sir Henry Cecil, David has enjoyed steady progress from season to season and in 2012 had his best year to date tallying up over £500,000 in prize money.

Main Sequence, owned by The Niarchos Family, led the way in 2012 landing The Lingfield Derby Trial (G3) before finishing an impressive second to Camelot in The Derby (G1). Biographer also proved a very smart performer, owned by Mr. Bjorn Nielsen, he rounded off a very consistent three-year-old campaign with a success in the Listed Noel Murless Stakes at Ascot.

In addition, David had a multitude of winners at every level in 2012 including consistent handicapper Tis Rock ‘n’ Roll and impressive two-year-old performer No Jet Lag.

With a string of around 60 horses to work with in 2013, David is excited about the upcoming season. While nothing is guaranteed in this sport, David has built sure foundations around his training operation that suggest many more Pattern-level triumphs will follow in the coming years.
